Pets are welcome in Penola and Coonawarra

Fur-friends need not be left home when you plan a visit to Penola and Coonawarra. With stunning walking tracks, wineries and lovely accommodation, we warmly welcome you and your pet.

9 – 10am
Pop your pet friends on a lead and take a leisurely stroll around the beautiful setting that is the Greenrise Recreation Reserve and Arboretum Trail amongst 110 species of trees, a dry lake and sensational Red Gums.

10 – 12pm
Collect the Penola Walk with History Map and trail information from the John Riddoch Centre before collecting takeaway coffees and snacks from one of our lovely cafes or the bakery. Make your way down Petticoat Lane for a picnic at the garden tables of the Petticoat Lane Herb Garden at the rear of historical Sharam Cottage.

12 – 3.30pm
There are loads of pet friendly cellar doors in Penola and Coonawarra just waiting to welcome you and your pooch. Enjoy tastings and a delicious produce platter relaxing in the surrounds of a winery. Click here for a list of dog-friendly wineries. Walk to each winery via the Coonawarra Walking Trail or drive. Your choice.

3.30 – 5pm
Finish off your day with a stroll down Penola’s main street, Church Street, for some shopping and a browse in our unique art galleries.

 

Tip: For overnight or longer stays pets are welcome at many accommodation venues in Penola and we also have a dog-sitting service. Please speak with the Penola Coonawarra Visitor Information Centre for tips.
