Sun's out activities for Penola and Coonawarra

Penola and Coonawarra are beautiful towns to explore on a sunny day.

  • Investigate the 19km Coonawarra Rail Trail from Penola to Coonawarra which runs through picturesque farmland and Coonawarra wineries.
  • Head to the Greenrise Recreation Reservation for a wander under the shade of 6000 trees, 110 species.
  • Retreat from the sunshine whilst you learn the history of the town and area, visiting the John Riddoch Centre and then the Mary MacKillop Centre.
  • Enjoy the great outdoors with platter style lunches at many of the Coonawarra cellar doors. There are outdoor games and activities to keep the kids amused, or relax and enjoy the serenity.
  • Make your way, towels on shoulders to the gorgeous Penola Swimming Pool. Freshen up with a dip. Open all summer through to Easter.
  • Complete your day with a drink and dinner in the beer garden at the Royal Oak Hotel.
